Dredd Speed and the Robot Rebellion is a bullet hell twin-stick shooter video game created by one-man independent game developer Mike "Jamul" Hommel of Hamumu Software for the Boys' Life magazine (now known as Scout Life). It was originally released on October 1, 2012,[1][2] and taken down from the official Boys' Life website in 2020 when Flash was shut down.[3]
Dredd Speed and the Robot Rebellion is currently available through Hamumu's public source code archive, where it is stored under the file name dreddspeed_unlocked.swf
. It has also been archived as part of BlueMaxima's Flashpoint, a nonprofit webgame preservation project.[4]

Constructomat 2700[]
“ | Drag collected junk items into the four green construction hexes. The resulting item can be equipped by dragging it to the Equipped Gear. This will destroy your current item in that slot!
You can't have two of the same type of junk in an item, like two Coils. Junk lower in the grid is more powerful. |
” |
—In-game manual |
The Constructomat 2700 is where the player can view the junks they have collected, the gears they're currently equipping, as well as a construction area, in which 4 types of junks can be combined into a single gear.
Junks[]
There are 8 types of junks available in the game, all of which are obtained from destroying enemy bosses. 34 different junk variants are present in total.

Gears[]
A total of 30 gear variants are available in the game: 10 helmets, 10 guns, and 10 backpacks. Combining 4 eligible types of junks in the Constructomat 2700 will allow the player to create a specific gear.
A gear's tech level is determined by the class of each junk used. For example, four Class-III junks will create a level-12 gear, while two Class-I junks and two Class-II junks will create a level-6 gear. The gear's tech level will then influence its stats and overall effectiveness.

Star Map[]
As seen in the Star Map, there are 40 "sectors", or levels, available in the game, with each sector containing a single robot core. Defeating a sector's core will cause several random junks to be dropped. The game will not end until the player has collected every single loot.
Should the player lose a round in this game, the player will be sent back to the Star Map with only their progress in that sector wiped out.
Storyline[]
Introduction[]
The player is first greeted with the news that the robot SpyNet has gone haywire, thus causing multiple robot cores to go rogue. The player character, Dredd Speed, is sent on a dangerous mission to eliminate the threat, starting from Sector A-1 and slowly climbing their way to SpyNet, the final boss.
Victory[]
“ | You know... Maybe SpyNet wasn't such a good idea after all.
But nice work, Dredd! You saved the galaxy! |
” |
—Victory message |
By beating SpyNet at Sector E-8 (unlocked after Sector D-8 or E-7), the player will be rewarded with a special victory screen. It isn't necessary to beat all the remaining sectors to get to this stage.
Do note that achieving victory will not reset the player's progress at all.
